About the Journal
History Journal is hosted on the Sustainable and Emerging Research Network (SERN) platform and follows a clear gold open access policy: every article is freely available from the moment of publication; authors retain copyright under Creative Commons Attribution; and there are no paywalls or subscription fees to restrict access because knowledge should be available to anyone interested in the stories that shaped our world
We welcome scholarship across time periods and regions: from ancient civilizations and colonialism to modern conflict, economic change, oral history, postcolonial critique, digital archives, and historiography. Our goal is to host robust historical inquiry enriched by interdisciplinary tools—from economic data to digital humanities, making every piece a bridge between historical rigour and wider cultural understanding.
All submissions are reviewed through a double‑blind peer process by qualified historians, archival experts, and digital research practitioners to ensure thoughtful and actionable feedback. Ethical standards are non-negotiable: we follow COPE guidelines; all conflicts of interest must be disclosed; plagiarism or simultaneous submissions are immediate grounds for rejection; and confidentiality is paramount.
Authors retain full copyright and are free to distribute, adapt, or republish their work commercially or in anthologies, with proper attribution. We operate without corporate sponsorship or funding sources that might compromise editorial independence. SERN’s cost‑sharing model keeps publishing fees minimal and fair. Contributor and reader privacy matters: any personal data is reserved exclusively for editorial purposes; nothing is sold, shared, or used for marketing; we adhere strictly to SERN’s privacy and transparency policies
